Scrapbooking 101: Highlight with a Frame

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Scrapbooking 101 post, so I figured it was about time.  Here’s my Sweet Summer Days 2-page layout, originally designed by my friend and fellow demonstrator, Ann Holtrop.  We put together the basic pages at one of her stamp club meetings over a year ago, and unfortunately they’ve been sitting around ever since.  I finally found the perfect photos and placed them on the pages.  There were some loose embellishments that I arranged to fit my pages, so my finished layouts are different than Ann’s.

The photos on the pages are of my husband and kids at a playground in Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  I particularly loved the one of Mia hanging upside down, so I cut a circular frame with my Circle Scissors Plus to highlight that part of the photo.  The eye is naturally drawn to a frame, so try using some sort of frame to highlight an interesting portion of your page.  And don’t just think circles….frame with a square, bracket, or other fun shape!
