Scrapbooking 101: Vary Similar Embellishments

If you have a cluster of similar embellishments on your page, mix them up a bit to add interest.  On this page, I used a cluster of paper buttons die-cut with my Buttons #5 die in my Big Shot.  I created variety by using various shapes, sizes, and colors as well as different “thread” treatments.

  • For the red button, I “threaded” thin strips of cardstock through the button holes in an X pattern.
  • For the white button, I used the same technique making a dash pattern with a blue cardstock strip since there were only 2 button holes.
  • For the blue button, I threaded white embroidery floss through the button holes.

This page features photos of Mia & Seth taking a ride together on Seth’s beloved toy motorcycle in August of 2006.  I know it’s actually more like a 3-wheel bike/tricycle, but Seth has called it his motorcycle since Day 1 when our neighbor brought it home for him.
