Frayed Ribbon Tutorial

As promised, here is a tutorial for fraying ribbon. Frayed ribbon makes a pretty embellishment on cards and scrapbook pages. You can also make it whimsical....see my face card as an example. Note: this tutorial uses grosgrain ribbon.

1) Start with a piece of ribbon. Cut your ribbon to the desired length and tie a simple knot in the center.

2. Use detailed cutting scissors to trim away the outer edges of the ribbon. Cut these pieces off near the knot.

3. Use your fingers to separate the ribbon strands, removing the short parallel strands as you go.

4. Your finished side should look like this. Repeat on the opposite side of the knot.

5. The final look. Apply it to your card, scrapbook page, or other papercraft project.
